Binary is a webcomic created for my Master's Degree at UWT. The goal with this comic is to create a counter-narrative to traditional depictions of veterans within mainstream dominant culture - depictions that paint veterans as unstable, violent, and out of control. I hope that through reading this comic you have fun but more importantly that you become more awake and aware about the issues that concern veterans. Our numbers will only continue to grow as war continues on. We need your compassion, understanding, and respect.
About The Artist/Author
Patrick Hardin is a Graduate Student at the University of Washington Tacoma (UWT) in the Masters of Arts Interdisciplinary Sciences (MAIS) program. Patrick is a US Army combat veteran (OEF 2010/11) serving as a 68W Healthcare Specialist (Combat Medic) for Bravo Company 1-87INF 10th Mountain Division. Due to his experiences in Afghanistan and a subsequent diagnosis of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), he has spent his life seeking to promote positive and constructive art and writing that removes the negative stigma of PTSD in veterans.
